The history changes and so does the culture. In Europe, most schools (depending on where you are, of course) do not explore the history of all the continents. You learn the most history about the biggest events in Europe, and chances are big that it is that way on all the continents. When you are younger, you learn about the country you live in briefly. As you get older, history may get more detailed and you learn more about the history and events that have happened around your country. If you live in central Asia, you probably learned about history from central Asia. If you live in West Africa, you probably learned about the history of West Africa and how it has developed throughout time as well as the culture.
These two martial arts come from the same continent but from two different countries and cultures. They may not have been practiced at the same time, but have the same goals.
Fighting only happens on the mat or in the ring, and never on the street. The techniques taught should only be used in defense of yourself or others. You should never use your fighting techniques against someone who cannot defend themself. Honor, loyalty, and adherence to the code are more important than any combat technique, graduation, or title.
